HKIAIA’s First Charity Event to Mark its 15th Anniversary

The Year of the Dog will be kicked off in style! Over 500 people including trade and industry professionals, government officials, overseas partners and guests from HKIAIA’s member companies, universities will come together at one of Hong Kong’s most elegant locations, the Ballroom, InterContinental, on March 22nd to attend Hong Kong Intimate Apparel Industries’ Association Ltd. annual gala dinner. The event not only will celebrate the organization’s 15th anniversary but will also be their first ever charity event as they collaborate with the HK Breast Cancer Foundation to raise funds for new equipment for the support center in Kowloon, which opened on March 8th 2018. This center has been created to help provide services to underprivileged women from the area based on research that found that nearly 80% of breast cancer patients live in Kowloon and the New Territories, and women belonging to lower income groups living in these areas were less prepared to undertake regular breast cancer screening. Things will be kicked off with a cocktail reception before moving on to a Western style dinner. VIP guests will include prominent figures from the industry such as Mr. Stanley Szeto, Chairman of the Textile Council of Hong Kong and Dr. Ong Lay Lian, Principal of the Hong Kong Design Institute, amongst many others. Of course, Mrs Eliza Fok, Chairlady of HKBCF will also be in attendance. Fund raising will be carried out on the night by an innovative “balloon sale” where guests could make an instant donation via the crowd funding site, fringebacker.com and would get a balloon. All funds raised (minus production cost) will benefit HKBCF. As if that wasn’t enough excitement, Agnes Chan, Beast Cancer survivor and the HKBCF Ambassador, will share her experience on fighting against breast cancer and her new book on child education. Furthermore, Chan will also perform at the event, alongside a performance from Mahmood Rumjahn, the musician and composer.
